River Trips: Cheat Narrows
The Narrows is an exciting moderate river trip, providing great fun for nearly all ages and skill levels. The Cheat Narrows winds 10 miles along scenic Rt. 72 just north of our Albright Visitors Center. The Narrows are full of massive boulders, crystal clear water, and lots of swimming holes and jumping rocks. Steady spring rain and snowmelt fills the Narrows with giant wave trains and Class II-IV rapids. The lower water levels of summer make the Narrows a superb family river complete with a great riverside picnic spot. The Narrows are a great whitewater trip for beginner and advanced paddlers alike.
The Cheat Narrows trip runs twice a day. The morning trip meets in Albright at 9am and includes lunch on the river. The afternoon trip meets at 2:30pm and includes a snack on the river.
The Narrows trip begins out our Visitors Center in Albright where we will get geared up and hop on a bus to the put in. We have a great riverside picnic/snack lunch spot where we can watch other boaters challenge Calamity rapid.
The Narrows runs from March through November, with each season offering a little different ride.
Combine the Cheat Narrows with the Cheat Canyon, rock climbing or wild caving for big savings!
